Kylie Seltzer is an architectural historian, educator, digital humanist, and community builder whose work focuses on dismantling white supremacy and creating a more equitable world.
An award winning scholar and teacher, Kylie is committed to using her humanistic background and historical knowledge to solve today’s problems.
Her doctoral research analyzed the ways that architecture and built forms were used to popularize race theory in the 19th century. This pseudoscience represents the foundation for white supremacist ideologies of the present day.
Now, Kylie uses her expertise to address the urgent inequalities that plague Pittsburgh’s residents. As the Research Strategist at Common Cause Consultants, she synthesizes qualitative and quantitative data to find equitable solutions for communities, nonprofits, and foundations.
When she is not focused on racial justice, Kylie can be found teaching group fitness classes, sipping an espresso tonic, or spending time with her two shih tzus, George Michael and Phil Collins.
She currently lives in Morrisville, NC.
